Long time Muskoka Lakes summer resident Katie Tsuyuki (Toronto, ON) took top spot in at the Canada Halfpipe Championships on Monday, March 8.
Tsuyuki, whose family has spent summers in Muskoka for over 30 years, also represented Canada at the Winter Olympics in Sochi.
Winning her event at the 2017 Sport Chek Air Nation Nationals held at Mount St. Louis Moonstone was Tsuyuki’s first national title since 2006.
Riders from all over the country, including members of Canada’s National halfpipe team made their way to the hill to compete for the national title.
“It’s been a long time since I’ve stood on the top step of the podium,: said Tsuyuki. “The girls rode really well today but I’m stoked to stand on the top of the podium again.”
The Canadian halfpipe team will head to Sierra Nevada, Spain for the FIS Snowboard World Championships.
